Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is the favorite to win the Republican nomination for Kansas Attorney General, according to a poll released today. In the poll of 800 likely Republican primary voters, Kobach earned the support of 43% of respondents in a three-way race.
“We’re encouraged by the results, but we’ll keep running like we’re 10 points behind,” said Kobach. “I’m going to work hard day-in and day-out in every corner of the state to earn every vote.”
Kobach’s next-closest competitor polled at 15% while 35% of the voters remain undecided in the race.
“We’ve been out campaigning at rallies and events, and the support is motivating,” Kobach said. “I want to earn the support and trust of all Kansans in this race.”
According to campaign general consultant J.R. Claeys, voters identifying as conservative are choosing Kris Kobach in a landslide, while Kobach’s opponents are receiving most of their support from voters identifying as moderate and progressive.
Claeys believes voters want a candidate who will challenge the actions of the Biden administration. Kobach is currently suing the Biden administration on behalf of Texas sheriffs, demanding the federal government follow the laws that are already on the books.
“Voters know Kris Kobach isn’t afraid to take the fight to the courthouse and win,” Claeys said. “He has the right experience and qualifications to defend our laws and push back against federal overreach.”
A graduate of Harvard, Oxford, and Yale, Kobach previously worked for the U.S. Justice Department, and he was a constitutional law professor for 15 years. He is endorsed by former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft.
“Every day, we meet more and more Kansas conservatives who are unhappy with the direction our state and country are headed,” Claeys said. “Kris has ideas and skills that will push Kansas and the rest of the country in the right direction.”
