OLATHE (June 24, 2017) — Today, the Olathe Republican Party hosted its annual Faith & Freedom picnic at Cedar Lake Park. An event that regularly draws elected officials, candidates, and activists from across the state, today’s picnic featured its usual straw poll for governor.
Out of five declared or potential candidates for governor, Secretary of State Kris Kobach swept the field with 75% of the total vote.
Kobach thanked his supporters, “Coming days after the Kansas Legislature’s $1.2 billion tax increase, the Olathe GOP straw poll results demonstrate that Kansans are looking for leadership. Someone dedicated to ending the culture of corruption in Topeka.”
“It was exciting to see the strong turnout for the Olathe event today. The race for governor is already building steam, and it’s good to see Kansans excited about it,” said Mike Jones, Chairman of the Johnson County Republican Party.
