KOBACH LEADS ALL CANDIDATES IN SUPPORT FROM KANSANS
TOPEKA (January 11, 2018) – Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is supported by more Kansans than any other Republican gubernatorial candidate in the recently submitted 2018 campaign finance reports. Kobach received over 500 itemized contributions, plus hundreds more small-dollar donations that remain unitemized.
As expected, the establishment campaign of Lt. Governor Jeff Colyer received a significant number of large contributions from PACs, out of state contributors, and special interests.
Kobach far outpaces the other candidates not only in the total number of contributors, but also the number of in-state contributors. Contributions to Kris’s campaign ranged from $1 to the maximum contribution, with over 90% of those contributions coming from Kansans.
This reflects the fact that the Kobach campaign is a grassroots campaign, supported by a large number of Kansans.
On the other hand, the Colyer campaign barely reached 450 itemized contributions. Nearly half of these contributions were from PACs, businesses, and out of state special interests.
“From the beginning, my campaign has been about the people of Kansas, not the special interests,” Kobach said. “Our message of lower utility rates, smaller government, and ending the culture of corruption in Topeka is resonating with working Kansans. I’m running to be their Governor and I appreciate the incredible support they have shown our campaign.”
