Willis “Wink” Hartman stands at the forefront of the oil and gas industry in Kansas. A calculated risk-taker with deep industry knowledge, Wink is passionate about oil and gas exploration and production. Throughout his dynamic twenty-six-year tenure as President of Hartman Oil Co., Inc., Wink has built a reputation for developing business strategies, incubating new business models and building service platforms.
He is a recipient of the “Businessman of the Year” award issued annually by the Wichita Business Journal, and in 2009 he was elected into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame at Butler Community College.
Wink was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He was educated in the Wichita public school system. He attended and graduated from Wichita State University with a business degree including double majors in marketing and economics.
Wink has held a variety of positions in his lifetime; when he was just fourteen he got his first exposure to oil and gas by working in the oil fields. Later on, he took jobs painting houses, working in advertising and sales, and even repossessing cars during his college years. While working for Del Monte Foods and Xerox Corporation in the early 70’s he built speculative houses for additional income. In 1990 he returned again to the oil business and purchased Hartman Oil Company from his father, Ralph Hartman.
Wink presently owns and oversees a variety of companies including Hartman Oil Co., H2 Trucking, H2 Drilling, H2 Plains, H2 Oil Field Services, Chester’s Chophouse, Hartman Arena, and several Jimmy’s Egg establishments to name but a few.
Wink has served on the boards of the Kansas Humane Society, Larksfield Place, Wichita Sports Commission, United States Polo Association, and is Chairman of Vintage Bank Kansas. He is a lifetime member of the NRA and the Wichita Chamber of Commerce.
Wink and his wife Libba have three children and two stepchildren, seven grandsons and one granddaughter. Wink and Libba reside on a farm outside of Rose Hill with a veritable menagerie of animals including camels, llamas, longhorn steers, buffalo, watuzies, miniature donkeys, horses, and a zebra. Their home also includes five family pets. Two cats; Inkie & Gimpers, and three dogs; Shelby, George and Charlie.
